We keep a printed list of every 24-hour emergency vet in the Santa Fe area with us on every sit, so we're never scrambling for a number when it matters. We'll call you immediately — but if you're unreachable and your pet needs care, we'll get them seen first and update you the moment we have a phone in hand. We carry your written authorization on file before every sit.

We don't take any payment before we've met you in person — no card on file, no online checkout up front. Once we've met and your dates are booked, we send a secure payment link for a 50% deposit to hold your dates, with the balance due after your stay. Prefer cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, or crypto? That works too. If a sitter asks for full payment before you've ever met them, that's worth a second look — it's usually a sign they don't expect to have to earn it.

Free 20-minute visit at your home. You walk us through feeding routines, where things live, the quirks of your animals, your security situation. Your pets meet us. We answer any questions. By the end of it you'll know whether we're a fit — and so will we. No pressure either way.

14 or more days before start — your deposit is refunded in full, minus a $15 processing fee. 7–13 days before start — half your deposit is refunded, the other half retained. Less than 7 days before start — your deposit isn't refunded, but that's the extent of it — we don't come after the remaining balance. Prefer to pay in full up front instead of a deposit? We're happy to do that too. Genuine emergencies (medical, family, weather) are always handled case by case — we'd rather work it out than enforce a contract.

Both, though most clients want us there for the majority of the time, which is what an overnight house sit is for. For animals that don't need someone there full-time, we offer drop-ins — usually a set half-hour or one-hour visit, once up to three times a day, and depending on what your pets need that can include feeding, a walk, or just company and playtime. We'll talk through what your animals actually need and quote accordingly.

Yes, when our calendar allows. The honest truth: we take a small number of clients, so last-minute is sometimes possible and sometimes not. Text us for the fastest response — email works too, we just may take a little longer to see it.

Not right now — these days it's mostly a big garden, our own produce, and depending on the season, more hummingbirds than we can count. We actually think that's a strength: when we're caring for your home and animals, we're not splitting our attention with pets of our own, and we're not introducing another animal's scent or energy into your pet's space. Between the two of us we've owned dogs, cats, gerbils, fish, and a ferret over the years, and have hands-on experience with rabbits, chickens, and ducks — so we know the rhythm of caring for animals, we just don't have any waiting on us at home right now.

We almost never cancel — that's the whole point of taking a small number of clients. If something genuinely unavoidable comes up (medical, family emergency), we'll tell you the moment we know, return any payment in full, and help you find someone we trust. No drama, no spin.
